From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
