The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
